Speaker officiates at installation of three Rotaract Clubs’ Presidents

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has presided over the installation of three Presidents Elect from the Rotaract Clubs (RAC) of Kampala Central, Cape Munyonyo and Nakawa Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

While presiding over the virtual installation in her boardroom at Parliament, Kadaga pledged to continue her support of US$1,000 to the young volunteers making a difference in society.

“I am very honoured and privileged to preside over this installation as three lady presidents are handing over their power to a new set of presidents. I want to thank Rotary for the programme that has been running over 50 years where the youth volunteer and make a difference in society,” she said.

Kadaga further commended the RAC of NVTI for keeping the momentum as they have challenges of students turnover when they finish their courses.

“I want to thank the RAC of Nakawa for keeping the momentum; every two years there is change in the students but you keep the fire burning. To the new President Mary Bridget Namutebi, I want you to take the mantle and drive forward the momentum as the Rotary message goes on,” she said.

The Guest of Honour and  Past District Governor, PDG Stephen Mwanje, said that the new presidents needed to learn the art of  becoming transformational leaders.

“Leadership is about the change you are going to create among the people and the communities you are going to serve. You must leave these clubs stronger than you found them,” Mwanje said.

The President of RAC Kampala Central, Fatia Ssemujju, thanked the mother club, Rotary Club of Kampala Central for being there for them every time they sort for help.
