Overview

<p>The objects of the Bill are&mdash;<br />&nbsp;a) to provide for a National Council for Older Persons to act as a coordinating body between government departments and other service providers;<br />&nbsp;b) to provide a structure through which free and fair elections of representatives of older persons may be conducted at all levels;<br />&nbsp;c) to set standards and regulations to guide Government, civil societies and the private sector on the availability of services provided to older persons with a view to redressing the bottlenecks encountered;<br />&nbsp;d) to provide a platform for older persons and stakeholders to meet regularly at least once a year to review the performance of the council;<br />&nbsp;e) to provide for monitoring and evaluation of the extent to which Government, civil society organization and the private sector meet the needs of older persons in planning and implementing programmes;<br />&nbsp;f) to perform all other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the forcing objects of the Bill.<br /><br /></p>
