Parliament to honour Queen Elizabeth II

Parliament is Wednesday, 14 September 2022 scheduled to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom who passed on 08 September 2022 in Scotland.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, in his communication from the chair during plenary on Tuesday, 13 September 2022 asked MPs to emulate Queen Elizabeth’s lifelong servant hood.

The motion will be moved by government, the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Hamson Obua, confirmed.

Speaker Anita Among on 12 September 2022 signed the condolence book at the British High Commssion in Kampala.

Replaced by her son, King Charles III, the Queen was the Patron of the Commonwealth Association of which the Parliament of Uganda is a member.

The House rose for a moment of silence in her honour.
