By 8:00am, the anthems and prayers had been concluded, and the first member-elect stepped onto the podium as day two of the swearing-in ceremony for the 12th Parliament got underway.
The swearing-in exercise, which began on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, will continue until Friday, 15 May 2026.
A slight drizzle shortly after the start of the ceremony and the reading of the proclamation did little to disrupt proceedings or dampen the mood, as drums and music filled the grounds, pausing only for the administration of the oaths.
Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze (NRM, Kibale East County), was the first to take the oath on day two. He was followed by Amos Kankunda Kibwika (NRM, Rwampara County), Stephen Kangwagye (Independent, Bukanga County) and Laura Kanushu (NRM, representing Persons with Disabilities).
Two representatives of the UPDF, James Kinalwa and Samuel Kavuma, were also among the members sworn in during the morning session.
As the drizzle continues, so too does the swearing-in ceremony.
