Department of Clerks

Purpose

The purpose of the Department of Clerks is to provide impartial procedural and Secretariat support services to Members of Parliament during plenary proceedings and in Committees.

 
Functions

1. To ensure timely preparation of the order of business of the House
    
2. To provide instant interpretation of the rules of procedure of Parliament and give advice during Plenary and Committee meetings
    
3. To arrange meetings of Committees of Parliament
    
4. To ensure safe custody of all papers laid before Parliament
    
5. To ensure timely production of the minutes of the proceedings of the House and its Committees
    
6. To ensure timely production of Committee reports
    
7. To follow-up on matters resolved in Committees and Parliament
    
8. To foster good relations with other parliaments and Parliamentary organisations as well as with Civil Society.
