Among contributes shs30 million towards Church House

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among has donated shs30 million to support Church of Uganda reduce the debt it incurred during construction of Church House.
She made her contribution when the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Rev Stephen Kazimba Mugalu paid a courtesy visit to her  on Thursday, 30 September 2021.

Among said it is a parliamentary culture to help institutions such as the Church of Uganda when they are in need promising to mobilise other legislators to support the cause.

She said her leadership will ensure that Parliament is a people centred institution, and asked the Archbishop to continuously pray for Parliament to deliver quality legislation.
“As we promised, we want to make this Parliament a people’s Parliament; people should feel what parliament is, how much parliament contributes to the community,” Among said.
The Archbishop commended Among’s gesture and urged her to transform Parliament and ultimately Uganda into a peaceful, healthy and Godly institution.
“God has entrusted you with a big responsibility so that we see a better Uganda. The Uganda we want is a peaceful, educated, healthy and prosperous country,” he said.
The Church House Building located in the heart of Kampala is a project aimed at raising income to run activities of the Church of Uganda countrywide. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kazimba said the project has failed to raise income to offset a loan incurred during its construction.
He told Among that once the loan is cleared, revenue generated from the Church House will support 37 dioceses to set up schools, health centers, churches and water projects.
