What is the role of Parliament?


Parliament has powers to make laws on any matter “for peace, order, development and good governance of Uganda.”

  • It also has the duty to protect the Constitution and promote the democratic governance of Uganda.
  • To provide for taxation and acquisition of loans and thereby enable government to work.
  • To scrutinize government policy and administration
  • To approve presidential nominations for ministers, judges, ambassadors and other positions specified in the Constitution.
