The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has reaffirmed the need for Parliament to delink itself from representation by the Attorney General in courts of law. Rt. Hon. Local Governments want Parliament to review the formula for resource allocation

Local government leaders have urged Parliament to consider an urgent review of the current formula used to allocate resources in the national budget. They accused the Central Government of delegating several responsibilities to them but with no adequate resources provided. Speaker wants HIV messages repackaged

The Speaker of Parliament Rt.Hon.Rebecca Kadaga has expressed concern over reports indicating that the HIV infection rate in Uganda is on the rise. In a meeting with United National Development Programme Administrator (UNDP) Helen Clark at Parliament May 15, the Speaker said there were reports of complacency in the communities. “We need to repackage the public awareness messages on HIV. Parliament vets appointed judges

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has commenced the vetting of 28 judges appointed by the President early May. Those under scrutiny by the Committee chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Rt.Hon. Kadaga Rebecca include two judges appointed to the Supreme Court, nine judges of the Court of Appeal and 17 judges for the High Court. The committee was scheduled to interact with Hon. PAP to work with Uganda on ratifying Charter on Elections

The Pan African Parliament Committee on Justice and Human Rights has promised to work with Parliament of Uganda to ensure that the country ratifies the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance.
