Subject to the delegation of Parliament s powers to the Local Government Accounts Committee under section 89 of the Local Governments Act, (Cap 243),
Subject to Section 89 of the Local Governments Act, (Cap 246), the Committee on Local Government Accounts is mandated to examine the audited accounts in relation to the report laid before Parliament by the Minister under section 89 of the Act showing the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to Local Governments. The Committee on Local Government Accounts comprises of 21 Members designated by Party Whips on the basis of proportional Party Membership in the House taking into consideration the numerical strength of the Parties and interests of Independent Members. Without prejudice to sub-rule (6) of Rule No.134, the Committee on Local Government Accounts, is to be chaired and deputized by Members designated by the Official Opposition Party or Organization.
