Frederick Mbagadhi (NRM, Kagoma), Vice Chairperson Committee on National EconomyPresentation, Consideration and Adoption of the Report of the Committee on National Economy on the request by government to borrow US$ 150m from the World Bank Government intends to borrow $150m from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank Group; the loan is intended for financing the Uganda Municipal Infrastructure Development Program (USMIDP) in 14 selected municipalities. Hon. Alice Alaso (FDC, Serere district)Motion for a Resolution of Parliament to declare areas in Uganda affected by the Nodding Disease Syndrome a humanitarian emergency area. The motion followed a Statement on the Status of Nodding Disease presented to Parliament by Minister of State for Health, Hon. Richard Nduhuura, on Thursday last week; in the Statement the Minister said that the overall coordination of nodding syndrome response activities is currently being undertaken by the Office of the Prime Minister; government has continued to roll out emergency interventions in response to the nodding syndrome cases reported in the Acholi sub-region; substantial resources have been mobilised from government and partners to facilitate the implementation of the National Nodding Syndrome Response Plan Deputy Speaker advises that the Prime Minister meets the mover of motion, Hon. Alice Alaso, the seconder, Hon. Betty Anywar and Hon. Gerald Karuhanga and Hon. Chris Baryomunsi to consider the motion and guide the House about the issue on Thursday this week.
