Committee visits Land Zonal Offices in Wakiso, Mukono

The Physical Infrastructure Committee has since Monday 26th September 2016 been carrying out oversight visits to zonal offices of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. Kadaga appeals for more support to reduce child mortality

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has called for more support from government and other non-state actors to reduce child mortality in Uganda. Kadaga made the call while launching a study on Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi) at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday, 27th September 2016. Government will set up a fund to support former Members of Parliament, President Yoweri Museveni has said.Speaking at a function organized to award former MPs with the Golden Jubilee Award, President Museveni said that the planned fund would also cater for descendants of the deceased former legislators. Government to exempt Sports taxation

Government is holding negotiations on possible tax exemptions for sporting equipment. “We (Ministry of Education and Sports) are negotiating with the Ministry of Finance about tax exemption; what has delayed us is how this should be done,” said Hon. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga has urged Members of Parliament to lobby the government to enforce better policies that support the growing population.
